Drivers in Hartlepool are being warned they may face some delays on their journey as long-anticipated works begin at a key junction in the town.
HBC Exposed can reveal that the first phase of traffic signal installation works has now started on Easington Road, at the busy junction with West View Road and Merlin Way.
According to information obtained by HBC Exposed, traffic signals are set to be installed at all four arms of the roundabout, in an apparent bid by Hartlepool Borough Council to improve traffic flow and safety at the location.
However, whilst the works are intended to “ease congestion” in the long term, the immediate impact is likely to be anything but convenient for local motorists with drivers being told to 'plan ahead', with Carriageway incursion expected throughout the works which could see some sections of the dual carriageway reduced to a single lane whilst work is ongoing, with delays likely to stretch into several months, with one source telling HBC Exposed that a planned completion date could be anything up to six months time.
The works are reportedly intended to ease conjection on the busy road, which is a main route for commuters leaving Hartlepool to access the A19 both north & southbound, with the junction seeing significant activity at peak times, with several accidents reported at the notorious blackspot, however some online have come to question whether the anticipated six months for completion is accurate & whether the potential carriageway being reduced to just one lane when works are ongoing is going to cause traffic chaos on one of the towns most busiest arterial routes in and out of the area...
